“What’s the use in this situation of someone being demolished?” Said Lin. “It doesn’t make my community more secure or solve any of our long-term problems with racism.”
“Instead, if you really want to help, look for the Asian boy who has no one to speak for him when he is bullied,” he said. “Look for Asian American groups that are facing poverty but are being forgotten.”
The AG League is investigating the incident, a source familiar with the situation told CNN.
During his time at Harvard University, Lin said his assistant coach Kenny Blakeney helped talk about the times when he experienced racism.
“He shared with me his own experiences as a black man – stories of racism that I couldn’t even begin to understand,” said Lin.
In 2019, Lin became the first Asian American to win an NBA title while playing for the Toronto Raptors. Lin became a household name in 2012, when he emerged as the star of the New York Knicks. Its success was dubbed “Linsanity”.
