Jensen McRae Drops Cover Single ‘Immune’ Phoebe Bridgers

Yes, many people go viral on social media, but very few manage to turn their viral post into a legitimately large piece of art. Jensen McRae is apparently not like most people. Earlier this month, the singer and songwriter went viral for a deeply accurate and darkly hilarious tweet predicting a future song by Phoebe Bridgers that will be released in the year 2023 about our current vaccination situation. “In 2023, Phoebe Bridgers will release her third album and the opening track will be about hooking up in the car while waiting in line to get vaccinated at Dodger Stadium and it will make me cry,” McRae tweeted, accumulating 75,000 likes. Getting stuck in a car while getting vaccinated at Dodger Stadium? Very sad. Very horny. Very Phoebe Bridgers.

But she didn’t hang up after a funny tweet. Putting his money where his mouth is, McRae wrote the first verse of Phoebe Bridgers’ fake song and tweeted a video of her singing with the caption “This is my cautionary cover of how I imagine it will sound”. The clip was so good and so accurate that Besides that went viral and caught the attention of Mrs. Bridgers herself, who simply tweeted, “oh my god”.

And now? McRae presented the world with damn music. On Wednesday, it released the single “Immune” the full version of a 30-second clip that started as a tweet. The song produced by Rahki starts with his viral verse and takes off from there, rising and diving with McRae’s extremely talented songwriting and vocal skills. “Immune” fits totally with Phoebe Bridgers’ sad girl work, but stands out as a unique work of art. If you like “Immune” – and trust us, you will like it – take a look at McRae’s previously released singles, “Wolves” and “White Boy”, which we’ve been playing over and over since McRae’s video went viral. Check out the single “Immune” by Jensen McRae and get excited about his debut album, which is set to come out later this year. If you like Phoebe Bridgers as much as we do, you’ll probably want to pre-order it.
