Still, J.Lo – looking resplendent all over white Chanel with his $ 1 million diamond ring from Alex Rodriguez in full display – remained in a medley of “This Land Is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful” that showed that she can actually sing something other than “Waiting for Tonight”.
There was a simple sincerity in the 51-year-old’s performance, unadorned by all the showmanship of shaking the booty that we are used to seeing in Jenny from the Bronx Block. And it was a nice touch when she added some Spanish – and a hint of “Let’s Get Loud” – to everything. (In Spanish, she said: “One nation, with freedom and justice for all.”)
Like Gaga, Lopez supported President Joe Biden throughout his campaign. And this performance crowns a turbulent year in which La Lopez seemed to be everywhere, starting with his Super Bowl halftime show last February and ending in 2020 with his headline performance on “New Year’s Rock Eve.
