Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are one of those couples who have been engaged for so long that we often wonder if they have already been married and we simply missed it, the two years since Rodriguez’s proposal has extended further in the midst of delays induced by COVID-19 and, as we have now learned, a new rocky phase in the couple’s relationship. On March 12, the couple’s separation was confirmed by several sources, with a statement a few days later indicating that they had met and were holding out. And while his problems are believed to stem from the revelation that Rodriguez had a potentially flirtatious social media relationship with Southern Charm reality star Madison LeCroy last year, a new source suggests that rumors of cheating this winter were less of a catalyst and more of a drop of water. Apparently, Lopez’s doubts about the A-Rod are older than we imagined, and it seems less clear than ever where J-Rod’s future lies.
Here’s the bombshell, delivered by a friend of Lopez’s to People: “She’s been thinking of breaking up with Alex for six months.” News for us! And, potentially, news for Alex, who is reorganizing his travel plans to stay close to fiancée Lopez and overcome this difficult phase.

Most recently, Rodriguez made another weekend trip to the Dominican Republic to visit Lopez, where she is filming the next project. Forced marriage (which Armie Hammer was supposed to star in, until other recent events surfaced). According to another People insider, the trip went well – and Lopez is hardly running for the hills.

We know that Lopez and Rodriguez at one point had big plans for the future and it seems less certain than ever that we really know where this couple may have gone wrong. Sure, Madison LeCroy securing a DM exchange with you for Andy Cohen is not the best scenario for any relationship, but it is always important to know the context.
