Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez led a highly publicized relationship, but now the couple reportedly ended the relationship.
The 51-year-old superstar and MLB star, 45, started dating in February 2017 before becoming engaged in March 2019. However, it was reported on Friday that the couple canceled the engagement.
“It took a long time to happen,” a source told People magazine about the split. “They are tied up in their business worlds, so it’s not a direct break. It took a while for them to even think about untangling everything.”

“I can’t stop thinking about Wednesday and Jen’s performance at # Inauguration2021,” he wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “It was such an iconic moment – one I will never forget. I can’t express how proud I am of it and how privileged I was just to be there. It was really inspiring and so patriotic.”
“On the flight home, she showed me the sheet of lyrics and the meaning of her performance really started to be noticed. Do you believe she was the first person to sing in Spanish at an inaugural event?” Rodriguez continued.

Just before the inauguration, Lopez spoke to Andy Cohen on his radio show about why she was thinking twice before walking down the hall for the fourth time.
“Oh yes, we talked [not getting married] for sure, “admitted Lopez in December.” I mean, at our age, we’ve both been married, it’s like, are we going to get married? It is not? What does this mean for us? And just like people, like, what do you want to do? There is definitely no rush. “
The Super Bowl halftime artist revealed that he planned to say “yes” in Italy in June, but the pandemic interrupted his plans.
“It was very sad because we were going to get married in June and we had planned everything,” she explained. “So, in March or April, we are looking down and thinking, ‘This may not happen.’ Italy is the worst place in the world. And we were going to get married in Italy. I said, ‘OK, we have to cancel everything.’ “

On July 24 – JLo’s 51st birthday – Rodriguez shared a video montage on Instagram containing images of Lopez talking about his aspirations, clips of his performance, as well as photos and videos of the two together.

Coronavirus makes wedding plans unfeasible, May 2020

In late May, Lopez lamented how the coronavirus pandemic postponed the couple’s nuptials.
“I’m a little sad because we had big plans, but I’m also like, you know what? God has a bigger plan, so we just have to wait and see,” she said in a video chat appearance on the website “Today’s show . “
Lopez did not disclose much about what the A-list duo had planned, but revealed that everything was currently paused.
“There is no planning at the moment. You just have to wait and see how it all plays out,” she explained. “It’s disappointing on one level, you know, after the Super Bowl and after [filming] “World of Dance”… I planned to take a break, which is what we’re doing now. But at the same time, you know, we had a lot of plans for this summer and this year, but everything is kind of on hold right now. “

Both JLo and A-Rod accessed Instagram in May to share pleasant messages to each other due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“When the headlines are like that, it’s so important to hug those you love a little tighter and tell them how much you love them,” Lopez captioned a couple of images, which show the couple reading an issue of the New York Times. The headline reads: “Job losses are skyrocketing; virus cases in the United States are the first in the world”
That same day, Rodriguez shared another photo of himself and Lopez – this time they are cuddled up on the couch with his head resting on her shoulder while she looks at the phone.
“The biggest benefit of spending so much time at home is being with the family. Sometimes we get so busy in our lives that it is easy to lose sight of how important family time is for all of us, ”wrote the caption. “Don’t let this time go by without making the most of it.”

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rodriguez spoke enthusiastically about Lopez about his relatively new relationship at the time.
“She is very funny and amazing and just magical. Everything she touches, ”he said at the New York Fashion Week event. “I learned a lot from her in such a short time.”
He also noted that his daughters Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12, loved Lopez.

“I’m in a good relationship,” said Lopez of Rodriguez. “I feel like I can say that for the first time – I don’t know – maybe never.”
