Jennifer Garner discusses how her body changed after motherhood

Jennifer Garner believes she will always look “like a woman who has had three babies”, no matter how much exercise she does.

The actress, 48, is the mother of Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, 9, with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, 48, and joked that her children ‘like to torture her’.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, she said: ‘There are some incredible women whose bodies, no matter how many babies they have, they go back to that narrow, stomachless hip.

‘I mean, it’s incredible, I have so many girlfriends who have that physique and I’m really happy for them. I am not one of them, this is not my show.

‘I am not one of them, I can work very hard and I can be really fit and I will still look like a woman who has had three babies and I always will.’

Jennifer remembers discussing her ‘baby tummy’ on The Ellen DeGeneres, as there was speculation that she might be pregnant again.

She said, ‘So I thought I might as well approach you and Ellen was so kind to allow it. But did I just feel that we can too? I mean, every week, right? She is pregnant? It’s her? It is still happening, I am 48 years old and I am single.

– And it’s still happening, so you better get that bull by the horns. It’s like when beautiful Kate [Middleton] she left the hospital and did not hide the fact that she looked like a woman a few hours after giving birth, I mean.

‘I remember someone visiting me the day I had my first, and he didn’t know and he’s a dear friend, but he looked at me and said, is there another one?

“Luckily I have a sense of humor and laugh, but I remembered that, you know? I remembered that. ‘

Jennifer, who stars in the new Netflix comedy Yes Day, also revealed that her three children ‘like to torture her’.

She said: ‘Now that my children are older, they like to torture me. So they want to make me look silly, which is why we have this in the movie, they want me to go out into the world looking like an idiot.

‘I do something with my kids that I call the’ coaching mom ‘where I just put them in the backyard and make them do like, twenty jumping jacks and I put on loud music and make them run around the little yard and I make them sit and hold a board and you know, just for fun, like before bed, to get the last zoom, so I do a lot of Coach Mom with them and then one year they did Coach Kids and I had to do whatever they said and it was horrible – barely survived! ‘

Jennifer, who said she was raised in a ‘very conservative’ family, told how she recently pierced her ears for the first time.

She said, ‘I mean, I come from a very conservative person – my father was very strict and very conservative, the Garner girls didn’t have pierced ears, I just pierced mine during the pandemic for the first time – yes, it was very exciting !

Jennifer added: 'Now that my children are older, they like to torture me. They want me to look silly, which is why we have this in the movie, they want me to go out into the world looking like an idiot. '

‘It was because I couldn’t look at Zoom without something new. So I cut a fringe too because I couldn’t take it […] I mean, I’m 48 and I called my parents and said, “Dad, I’m going to pierce my ears” and he said, “Okay, Jennifer.”

In Yes Day, Jennifer and Edgar Ramirez star as parents who give their children a ‘Yes Day’, where they let them make the rules for 24 hours.

Speaking about the project, she said: ‘It was such a fun movie to make and, if you can believe it, we finished it a year ago this week, so we finished it – we were one of the last productions to end before everything was done.

‘So it really looks like it was almost a dream, I watch it now and see the big crowd scenes we shot at the end and I think, oh my God, I can’t even imagine doing it now! So it’s a time capsule, a lot of yes and then a year of no and now we are ready for that, a little bit of yes.
