She also talks about OJ Simpson’s empty promises to her before she nailed it.
Fans are still wondering how “Sex and the City” will be without the original star Kim Cattrall and her character Samantha Jones – and giving some suggestions to who else could play the role.
When the revival, “And Just Like That …”, was announced earlier this week and it became clear that the show would only revolve around Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, viewers began to do a fan casting to replace Cattrall. One of the most popular names out there: “American Pie” star Jennifer Coolidge.
Appearing on “Watch What Happens Live” on Thursday, Andy Cohen asked Coolidge if she would be interested in stepping in for Samantha … or possibly playing someone to like her in the new series.
“I was a big – and still a big – fan of ‘Sex and the City'”, she started. “It’s one of those programs where you just watch reruns and never get tired of them.”
“But I have to say that I am a big fan of Kim Cattrall and I don’t see anyone being able to replace her in that part,” she added. “It was just perfect … I don’t think you can replace it.”

SATC Revival: What Sarah Jessica Parker had to say about Kim Cattrall’s absence

Sarah Jessica Parker had already ended the conversation about a replacement for Coolidge while responding to fans after the revival announcement fell online. She responded to someone saying that Coolidge should take the role, saying, “We have some new stories to tell. We are excited.”
A follower also said that SJP “did not like” Cattrall, which Parker denied. “No. I don’t dislike her. I never said that. I never would,” she wrote. “Samantha is not part of that story. But she will always be part of us. It doesn’t matter where we are or what we do.”
When another follower noticed that “they would miss Kim / Samantha”, Parker added, “We will miss you too. We love you very much.” To another fan who said she would miss the character, she replied, “She will always be there. And we are very excited.”
Although Cattrall didn’t talk about the reboot, she liked a tweet saying to her: “although I’m sad because Samantha won’t be back, I applaud doing what’s best for you and I think this is a great example of putting yourself first place.”
During her WWHL appearance, Coolidge was also asked about OJ Simpson, who apparently promised to help the then-naive SAG card.
“Well, he was very disappointing,” she said. “I never got that SAG card from him.”
“He used to come to this restaurant where I worked, the Sandra Bullock restaurant where she was the receptionist,” he added. “But OJ, he really promised to give me my SAG card … but he never confirms his promises.”
“It is not a very uplifting story,” she said with a laugh.
