Move to the Splash Brothers. Utah Jazz set a new NBA record by dropping 18 points in the first 3-point half against the Orlando Magic on Saturday. Utah easily surpassed the franchise record of 14 in the middle of the second quarter, and Donovan Mitchell’s 3-point basket with 34 seconds left put Jazz in the record books.

The previous record of 17 3s in the first half was set by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors in 2018. Jazz went into the locker room with a 78-40 lead after climbing 42 points. Here’s how the 3-point shot from the first half was stopped:

O’Neale, Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors were the only Jazz players who saw the court in the first half, but failed to hit a 3-point basket (although Utah’s home announcers continued to encourage Gobert to let one fly).

Jazz led the Western Conference for most of the season and entered Saturday night leading the league by 3 points per game with 16.9, and second in the league with 39.6 percent accuracy.
