JAYCEE HORN | South Carolina | DC | # 1 | Jr | 6002 | 205 4.50e | , GA Travel | Alpharetta HS | 11/26/98
Overview:
Son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, Jaycee Horn has the athletic skill set to create his own legacy on the defensive side of the ball. During his career in Gamecocks, Horn had a variety of internal and external repetitions. With an excellent size and more athletic ability, Horn has the physical profile to match a variety of sizes and styles of play. He is incredibly physical in the line of scrimmage, showing a beautiful combination of hand strength and lateral mobility, characterizing himself as the premier cornerback of the press-man in the entire class of 2021. In the racing game, he flashes more skill in the position cornerback. Horn is the type of player who can follow the best wide receiver of the opposing team across the field, whether on or off. Your hips are loose enough to make the vertical transition or down the hill. The box’s score will paint a picture about Horn, but his skills with the ball are much better than the statistics sheet can show, outside of the 2020 match against Auburn University. He easily turns his hips, turns and plays with the ball. The teams seem a little hesitant to challenge him in the passing game, rarely being tested on the field. Ball making will be the area Horn will need to answer question marks, something he calmed down in his limited sample size during the 2020 season. Currently, there is some wasted movement on his rear pedal, showing missteps and slow transitions at times. Horn has the kind of athletic profile and pedigree to hear his name in the first round. With its combination of size, physicality, softness and versatility of alignment, Horn is the type of versatile ace that teams value a lot at the rear.
Background:
Horn started in 29 of the 30 career games played by Gamecocks over the past three seasons, seeing action both inside and outside. He was selected as an SEC All-Freshman selection during the 2018 season. He chose to leave the 2020 season after the seventh game. He played at Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. Choose South Carolina from Tennessee, Alabama and Auburn offerings, among others.
