Jay Howard Reynolds
Jay Howard Reynolds, 90, of the Atrium in Navesink Harbor in Red Bank, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, the eve of the Presentation Feast, February 1, 2021, after a brief illness. Jay was born in 1930 in Neshannock Township, Pennsylvania, the second son of the late Howard Earl Reynolds and Rachel LaDora Reynolds (born Ralston).
He was a leader in the telecommunications industry and was instrumental in the use of microwave transmission and the development of HDTV through his employment with several national and international companies.
Over the years, he has been an active member of each of his communities, serving in local church sessions and councils of resident associations, most recently as vice president of the community council at the Atrium and editor of News Reviews & Reflections, in addition to his roles as a resident technical consultant and pool shark in the pool hall.
Jay was preceded in death by his beloved 64-year-old wife, Margaret Joann Reynolds (nee Owens), also known as “Peggy”, also from Red Bank and originally from New Castle, Pennsylvania, who was born at the Presentation Party in February. 2, 1933 and died on December 9, 2019.
Peggy and Jay were married on May 28, 1955.
They leave their two children, Dale Loy Reynolds (Elizabeth Nisbet) of New York, New York, and Bryan Alan Reynolds of East Hanover, New Jersey; three granddaughters, Hayley Kathryn Vislocky (John) of John’s Island, South Carolina, Kelsey Anne Peltzer (Colton) of Vista, California, and Joanna May Reynolds of New York, New York; a great-granddaughter, Fiona Claire Vislocky; and a sister, Betty June Bogle, from York, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Earl Reynolds, Jerry Forbes Reynolds, James Lewis Reynolds and Gene Howard Reynolds.
A memorial service conducted by the reverend Theresa Swenson will be scheduled for a later date at Red Bank. A private burial liturgy will be conducted by Rev. Lorrie Ghering-Burick at the tomb in New Castle.
The arrangements were entrusted to Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, New Jersey, and R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., New Castle, Pennsylvania.
