Earlier this week, it was rumored that the Raiders might be planning to switch Derek Carr to chase Texan quarterback Deshaun Watson.

If Raiders coach Jon Gruden commented on Watson, that would be adulteration – and he has been involved in this recently. But his brother, Jay, currently does not have a job after the Jacksonville coaching staff was replaced after the end of the regular season.

In an interview with TheAthletic.com, Jay said he did not know if his brother would be open to negotiating with Carr. But the younger Gruden made it seem unlikely.

“I never know what Jon is going to do. But I would be really shocked, ”said Jay Gruden. “The way Derek played this year, I don’t know why he would want to get rid of him. But who knows, if there’s another guy out there that they really like, it’s a deal at the end of the day. You have to think about not just the year that is coming, but the five, six, seven years to come. Jon will be there for the next six, seven years, so he has to think about it too. “

Jay noted that he watched a lot of the Raiders’ tapes in 2020 in case he wanted to make a move or training for his older brother, and thought Carr had his professional season.

Carr completed 67.3 percent of his bases for 4,103 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2020.
