Jay Graham resigned after less than two months as Alabama special team coach Crimson Tide

Jay Graham left Alabama less than two months after being introduced as a special and tight team coach for Crimson Tide football.

In a statement, Alabama announced that Graham “resigned from office immediately”.

No reason was given for Graham’s sudden departure, which took place hours before the scheduled start of the third spring practice.

Graham joined Nick Saban’s team in Alabama in early February, after spending the previous season as a Tennessee running back coach. Graham also held that position at Texas A&M, South Carolina and Florida.

“Jay is highly respected across the country for his knowledge of the game and his ability to recruit,” said Saban when Graham was hired. “He has experience in several schools across the SEC area with a proven record of his ability to teach the game and develop young people both in the field and in life.”

Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt was fired in January amid an NCAA investigation into possible recruitment violations. Assistant coaches Brian Niedermeyer and Shelton Felton, four members of the football recruiting team on campus, the director and assistant director of football players’ staff and a football analyst / quality control coach were also fired.
