Apple’s television adaptation of the real-life soap opera podcast adaptation that was WeWork now has some important talents attached. Jared Leto, the vampire who will soon be the leader of Morbiusand Anne Hathaway are joining the Apple TV Plus series WeCrashed like Adam and Rebekah Neumann, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
WeCrashed takes its name from the Wondery podcast on which it is based, detailing the meteoric rise and fall of the real estate company that called itself a technology company. Many of WeWork’s problems (and, presumably, the show’s plot) were centered on the Neumann. Adam Neumann was described as a risk factor in the S-1 documents released prior to the company’s IPO, and a profile of the Neumann in Wall Street Newspaper did not do much to dissuade anyone that they were not completely out of reach. For example, Rebekah Neumann allegedly fired several people because he “didn’t like their energy”, and Adam Neumann apparently had plans to become “president of the world”.
In many ways, Hathaway and Leto could be perfect for the roles. Each actor has played an eccentric percent in the past. Leto took a more sinister turn as a rich replicating designer in Blade Runner 2049, and Hathaway had a lot of fun in Ocean’s 8 like a movie star at the center of a diamond theft.
There is no set release date for WeCrashed, but there are many other projects under development, drama of the mining technology industry. If a clumsy shot on WeWork looks more like your speed, SuccessionNicholas Braun is playing Adam Neumann in another version of the story. And if you prefer your scandals to be based on blood, Kate McKinnon is scheduled to play Elizabeth Holmes in a retelling of Theranos’ elaborate hoax.
