A few days before the park’s official opening, it was discovered that Japan’s Super Nintendo World contains a locked Donkey Kong door, suggesting a future expansion of the park.

The VGC reports that the mysterious door is located and ‘hidden’ to the north of the park, presenting “a design very similar to the DK”, as seen in the image below. Neither Nintendo nor Universal has recognized this port in any official capacity so far, but there are many reasons to believe that new elements from Donkey Kong are already being planned for the park.

Here is the door in question. You sure are suspicious, huh?

Late last year, dataminers discovered Donkey Kong stickers on the park’s mobile app, suggesting there will be activities to see and do with Nintendo’s beloved Kong character family.

And rumors of DK’s involvement with the park have really been around since 2019, when leaked concept models revealed a Super Mario area and a Donkey Kong area. The work of the Super Mario concept is almost identical to the real deal seen in the park today, so it’s not exactly an exaggeration to assume that the DK model was also legitimate.

Even if COVID was not ruining our travel plans, perhaps postponing a visit is the best course of action? Two areas in one sounds great to us.
