On March 26, the Charleston city issued a Order to stay at home. Restaurants were considered a essential business so they were allowed to remain open, but just to offer meals, which requested the Perform Wednesday’s move.

So Governor McMaster issued the Request for work or home for all of South Carolina, which went into effect on April 7, and determined that all citizens stay at home unless go to work, visit the immediate family, seek medical attention or shop. (That the banana bread recipes that we all tried while we missed our favorite restaurants.) This remained in effect until may 4th when restaurants were allowed to reopen only to take + outdoor tables. Those who chose to reopen at this point had to follow specific guidelines, such as spacing tables + requiring employees to wear masks.

As a result, South Carolina unemployment claims in mid-March to 6 June

increased at 582,265. O highest percentage of that was the food service industry by 23%.

While most restaurants have hope for the future, some were only able to rehire 30-40% of your original team and others faced more difficult decisions to close all together. RIP – One Broad, Parcel 32, Fulton Five, Blossom, HōM, McCrady’s, do we need to continue?

Proceed to the first week of January 2021. Restaurant week is coming up again. The goal is raise awareness about local restaurants + provide the opportunity to try something new.

Typically, Restaurant Week brings everyone out of the house – encouraging making reservations + dine at local restaurants that offer exclusive offers just for this week. Yet, due to coronavirus precautions, most participating restaurants will also offer options to perform to keep the support running, even if it’s not in their cafeterias.

So, who is looking forward to supporting our local restaurants?
