January 30 Utah daily COVID numbers

Almost 19,000 more doses of vaccine are injected, bringing the state total to more than 300,000.

The Utah Department of Health reported administering nearly 19,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on the last day – the highest daily number of injections injected since immunizations began in the state last month.

The welcome record came on Saturday, with 242,784 people in the state now having received the first dose and 57,732 receiving both.

The state has already crossed 16,000 doses administered in a single day. But this is the first time that it exceeds 18,000.

The day brought other good trends as well. Hospitalizations in general decreased, as did the number of patients in intensive care units. There was only a modest increase in new cases of the virus, while the seven-day average also decreased.

Vaccinations reported the day before / total vaccinations • 18,719 / 300,516.

Cases reported the previous day • 1,468.

Deaths reported the day before • 8

There were five deaths in Salt Lake County. They were a man and a woman, both aged 45 to 64; a woman aged 65 to 84; and a man and a woman, both over 85 years old.

In addition, there was a death in each of Cache County – a man aged 65 to 84; Davis County – a 65- to 84-year-old man; and Weber County – a woman over 85.

Hospitalizations reported the previous day • 430. That’s 16 below Friday. Of those currently hospitalized, 139 are in intensive care units – nine fewer than on Friday.

Tests reported the day before • 8,768.

Percentage of positive tests • 16.74%. This is slightly lower than the seven-day average of 18%.

Totals to date • 345,430 cases; 1,663 deaths; 13,427 hospitalizations; 2,018,175 tests.
