Fox News senior meteorologist Janice Dean says the media is complicit in New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s cover-up of the rising death toll in New York nursing homes due to the coronavirus, and has failed to hold him responsible for its fatal policies that caused more than 15,000 elderly people in assisted living to death.

Dean’s mother-in-law also had a similar fate.
“My mother-in-law acquired COVID in a community unit and died in the hospital. And her number doesn’t count,” said Dean, referring to the state’s count of COVID-related deaths.

Cuomo’s administration admitted in a letter to New York lawmakers on Wednesday that the actual number of deaths in the elderly in nursing homes was 15,049 – almost 10,000 more than the health department reported in late January.
“We’ve known it all along,” said Dean. “That’s why I have been demonstrating since May. We knew that they were not reporting the total number because they were not counting the number of deaths in the hospital that received COVID from their nursing homes, like my mother-in-law.”
Dean is pushing for lawmakers to open an investigation into Cuomo’s leadership during the pandemic and be held responsible for the deaths that resulted from his previous Empire State nursing home directive to accept patients who had or were suspected of having COVID-19.

Cuomo authorized limited visitation, mainly outdoors, during the pandemic, but for elderly patients who are bedridden or who cannot go out due to the cold winter climate, the options are few and far between.

“From the beginning, Cuomo has not listened to science,” he added. “I think he listens to the people who fill his pockets and I think this is a corrupt administration. There needs to be a lot of investigation into how he leads, why he has so much power.”
Cuomo’s office did not respond to Fox News’s repeated requests for comment.
