Jane Fonda will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at this year’s Golden Globe.
The tribute recognizes Fonda’s illustrious career in cinema, which took her to the top of the box office and consolidated her name in the history of cinema by starring classics such as “Klute”, “The China Syndrome” and “9 to 5.” Most recently, Fonda appeared on the Netflix series “Grace & Frankie”, as well as “Book Club” and “Youth”. His other films include “The Electric Knight”, “Barefoot in the Park”, “Coming Home” and “Julia”. One of his biggest commercial successes was the release of his first exercise video in 1982, “Jane Fonda’s Workout”, which sold 17 million copies and spawned several sequels.
Fonda is also known for her political positions – protesting the Vietnam War, campaigning for civil rights and advocating for feminist causes. Currently, Fonda is leading fire drill exercises on Fridays as part of a national movement to raise awareness about the climate crisis.
The Cecil B. DeMille Award is the highest honor given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the organization behind the Globes. Previous recipients include Robert De Niro, Sophia Loren, Sean Connery, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese, Jodie Foster, Steven Spielberg and Meryl Streep. Last year’s honoree was Tom Hanks.

DeMille Award to Jane Fonda,” said HFPA President Ali Sar in a statement. “For more than five decades, the breadth of Jane’s work has been anchored in her relentless activism, using her platform to address some of the most important social issues of our time. His undeniable talent earned him the highest level of recognition, and although his professional life has changed, his unwavering commitment to bringing about change has remained. We are honored to celebrate your achievements at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards ”.
Fonda is a seven-time Golden Globe winner and 15 times nominated. She will accept the honor in the Globes broadcast, which will air on Sunday, February 28. This year’s ceremony is likely to be very different from previous editions due to the coronavirus.
