Jana Kramer says she is proud to be Mike Caussin’s wife, as the former NFL player marks a year of sobriety in his recovery from sex addiction.
“This year I saw you become the man I knew you could always be,” wrote the country actress and singer on Instagram. “I am proud of all the work you have done to become not only a better husband and person, but I can also see you loving yourself now and leaning on God and allowing him to come into your life. I am very proud of you for sharing your story to help others, because most people live in anonymity, but your courage is helping many. ”She added:“ I am proud to be your wife ”.
Caussin himself talked about the birthday on Monday, with his own post on Kramer’s Instagram page. “As an addict, I am very ashamed,” he said. “Others who share a similar illness can relate. We rarely like to talk about it, let alone acknowledge it. But this Thursday, I celebrate the most sober year of my entire life. I’ve had my stumbles and falls for the past four years on this show, but this year was finally different. None of this was possible without finally allowing me to rely on others, my wife and God. “
The couple, who married in 2015 and have two young children, regularly share updates about their relationship. They were open about the fact that they separated in 2016, after Caussin had an affair, and that they rekindled the relationship after his treatment for sex addiction. In September, they released a book on relationships, The good fight: wanting to leave, choosing to stay and the powerful practice to love faithfully. They discuss the ongoing struggles on their podcast, Cry with Jana Kramer and Mike Caussin.
In June 2019, Kramer explained to Yahoo Entertainment that they share in hopes of helping others.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect as many women to come out of the hole as they did with the problems in their marriage,” said Kramer. “I thought people would be a little more closed off with this, but it has been great to see that people want to work on their relationship. I think it’s a really affirmative place, to know that we want to help people. We want to be able to say, like, like, ‘Alright, that’s what we went through, we basically turned rotten lemons into lemonade’, to know that we’re helping people make us happy ”.
