Jamie Lee Curtis joins Cate Blanchett in ‘Borderlands’ – Deadline

Jamie Lee Curtis, twice a Golden Globe winner, embarked on the film adaptation directed by Eli Roth of the best-selling video game Borderlands, joining Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart.

Based on the PC and console gaming experience of developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K, the Lionsgate film takes place in the distant future, when four “vault hunters” travel to the distant planet Pandora to hunt for an alien vault that allegedly contains technology advanced.

Curtis will play Tannis, an archaeologist on Pandora who may have the key to finding the safe, but whose complicated story with Lilith (Blanchett) will not help.

Craig Mazin wrote the most recent draft of the script.

Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing through their banner Arad Productions with Erik Feig of Picturestart. Executive producers are Randy Pitchford, EP of Borderlands video game franchise and founder of Gearbox Entertainment, and Strauss Zelnick, president and CEO of Take-Two Interactive, father of 2K.

James Myers and Aaron Edmonds are overseeing the project on behalf of Lionsgate. Emmy Yu is supervising the film for Arad Productions. Lucy Kitada and Royce Reeves-Darby are supervising Picturestart.

Curtis, who will repeat his role as Laurie Strode for the next two Halloween installments, Halloween kills and End of Halloween, is represented by CAA and Jackoway, Austen, Tyerman.
