James Wiseman’s injury ‘is not serious’; The Warriors rookie should play on Sunday

Warriors fans, you can expire.

For a moment, it seemed that the Golden State lost much more than a game on Friday night, when James Wiseman fell – and remained – at the end of the Warriors’ 123-98 defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers at the Chase Center.

Running around the court after Steph Curry, Wiseman turned his left ankle and was almost motionless on the floor. After the seemingly endless streak of terrible injury injury the franchise has experienced over the past 18 months, countless Warriors fans have certainly assumed the worst.

But fortunately, general choice # 2 avoided that. After the game, coach Steve Kerr insisted that Wiseman’s injury is not serious and that he hopes to have the great promising man available for Sunday’s rematch against the Blazers.

Ufa.

The Warriors had a rough start to the 2020-21 season, and their brightest spot was Wiseman, who surpassed even the most optimistic of expectations in five games in his NBA career. He was undoubtedly the second best player, behind Curry, and they simply cannot afford to lose Wiseman for a long period of time, especially with the team in shallow depth of field after Marquese Chriss’s injury in the end of season.

After the loss, Wiseman assured him that he would be fine.

So, breathe, Warriors fans. Friday’s game was not pretty, but it was not as ugly as it could have been.
