Christina Ricci’s ex-husband is seeking a restraining order against the actress, accusing her of excessive drinking and domestic violence.
Heerdegen’s request for a domestic violence restraining order comes days after Ricci, 40, requested a restraining order against him, according to court documents obtained by Page Six on Friday. Your order has been granted.
On her request, according to the Daily Mail, Heerdegen said she would go into drunken fury in front of him and his son Freddie. He claimed that she would have no idea what happened when she finally sobered up and that he had to check Freddie’s bottles at a time while she was breastfeeding.
“This lawsuit is nothing more than a transparently abusive attempt to silence my client,” said Ricci’s lawyer, Samantha Spector, in a statement. “It will not work. Christina will not be intimidated by Mr. Heerdegen and his barrage of misleading claims – and she remains determined to protect her family.”
Ricci and Heerdegen were married in 2013 and welcomed their son Freddie in 2014. The actress filed for divorce in July 2020 after an alleged domestic battery incident.
Ricci filed for primary physical and legal custody of Freddie, 6, as part of the divorce. She also asked the court not to allow Heerdegen’s visiting rights.
In her own documents filed on Friday in opposition to his request, Ricci told the court that she believed Heerdegen had filed the request in retaliation for her request, submitted earlier in the week and which was unnecessary. At the time, she provided the court with photos of the injuries she allegedly suffered from Heerdegen’s abuse, some of which she claimed to have occurred in front of her son.
It also included an audio clip from June 25, 2020, of an alleged incident between the two, where, according to court documents, “James can be heard terrorizing Christina, spitting and shouting at her, admitting violence, following her from room to room, chasing her and then violently assaulting her, before the recording ends abruptly with her crying that she is calling the police. Surprisingly, this recording also captures Christina trying to lead the younger child – who is present – to away from the growing scene. ”
“It is anticipated that James will accuse Christina of physical abuse against him for defensive actions that she took to escape his attacks on her,” the document said. “He can also try to portray Christina as admitting responsibility for his struggles to others.
