Seattle Seahawks safety guard Jamal Adams was clearly playing with less than 100 percent of his playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams earlier this month.
Adams was unable to raise his left arm to the normal extent due to a broken labrum in his shoulder suffered the week before at the end of the team’s regular season against the San Francisco 49ers. It was far from the only injury Adams had this season and he had surgery last week to address two areas of concern due to the wear and tear of the year.
Adams posted on his Instagram account about the injuries he suffered in his first season in Seattle.
“I didn’t complain all (season) because it was bigger than me, ”Adams wrote in a photo of himself during surgery, via ESPN.com’s Brady Henderson
Adams said he extended his elbow in the first week against Atlanta. The following week, he injured his middle and ring fingers, including at least one fracture that persisted throughout the year. A groin injury in week 3 against Dallas forced him to miss the next four games. He dislocated his right shoulder in the first encounter against the Rams and then tore the lip of his left shoulder against the 49ers.
“Last week, I had two surgeries at the same time,” he continued. “I say all this to say this, keep the same f—— energy for next season, when I’m healthy back. You are all on my list. “
Despite injuries and four games lost, Adams still set the record for most sacks ever by a 9.5 defense and was nominated for the Pro Bowl and a second All-Pro team.
