Carson Wentz started with 12 games in 2020. Jalen Hurts started with the final four.
So, who starts the season opening for Eagles in 2021?
Hurts had a diplomatic response when he asked that question on Tuesday.
“This is a great question; that’s a great question, ”Hurts told CBS Sports HQ, via NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Reuben Frank. “I will tell you that I am working on my side, trying to build these relationships with my guys. I’m excited for this off season, looking forward to taking the next step, so whatever it is, I’m challenging myself to be the best defender I can be. Learn from my mistakes as a team, learn from my mistakes from last year in person [in] those four games that I had the opportunity to get my feet wet and take off next year. “
The Eagles may not even know who will be their starting defender in 2021. It hurts, though, probably in conversation and competition.
For now, everything Hurts can control is getting better this off season.
“One thing I do – and have always done – is just try to keep the right mindset,” said Hurts. “I control what I can. I have always been like this and I will always be like this. So, the main thing I can control is my work ethic, my effort, where my head is, the relationships I have with those around me and just building. Build as a man, build as a player, always rooted in my faith. “
