Jadeveon Clowney visits Browns, leaves without signing

The courtship between the Cleveland Browns and the defensive side Jadeveon Clowney was renewed on Wednesday. The Browns received Clowney, a free agent, on a visit.

Clowney left the team premises and returned to his home without signing with the team, by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The visit was part of the official NFL transaction list for the day, but there was no indication of any subscription.

It is the most recent revival of interest between the Browns and Clowney, which sparked several sparks in the year. The Browns courted Clowney, also a free agent before last season, but never reached an agreement. Overall choice # 1 in the 2014 NFL draft signed with the Tennessee Titans, closing a one-year, $ 13 million contract.

The Titans did not get much return on their investments. Clowney failed to register a single sack, achieving only four TFLs out of 19 tackles in eight games. He has only three sacks in 21 games in the past two seasons, although 28-year-old Clowney remains an above-average running defender and still manages pressure both as a final and internal presence.

Clowney continues to struggle with knee injuries that have consistently hindered his career. His 2020 season ended early with a broken meniscus that leaves his status for the start of the 2021 season questionable.
