Jackson Health expands the criteria for the COVID-19 vaccine to include high-risk people without medical notes

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – The Jackson Health System announced on Monday that it is expanding the criteria for vaccination COVID-19 in its three locations, which includes vaccinating vulnerable patients, even if they do not have a medical certificate.

The health system said that, as of Tuesday, it will provide injections for the following four categories:

  • 65 years or older

  • 50 to 64 years old with identification showing that you are a school employee at a K-12 school, a sworn police officer or a fireman

  • 18 years or older, and certify that your doctor has recommended that you receive the vaccine due to your high-risk condition (no documentation required)

  • From 16 to 17 years old, you must certify that your doctor has recommended that you receive the vaccine due to your high-risk condition. No documentation or proof needed. You are required to have a parent or legal guardian with you on your appointment to provide consent

Jackson said he will open his online appointment portal at JacksonHealth.org on Monday and that people who meet the vaccine criteria can apply for appointments that will begin on Tuesday.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital announced on Friday that it was also beginning to accept vaccine applications from the general public for people aged 16 to 21 with conditions that make them particularly vulnerable to COVID-19.
