In several disturbing (and since then deleted) videos posted on his Instagram last week that were then selected by TMZ, “Jackass” star and skateboarder Bam Margera attacked the production of the franchise’s last chapter, saying it was being cut from the film and that they were stealing their ideas.
Margera, star of “Jackass” since his start on MTV in 2000, also stated that during production he had to undergo breathalyzer and urine tests, and that his drugs were being prescribed by Paramount, the studio behind the film. Margera seemed to be intoxicated in the videos, the first of which started with him saying, “Who the hell cares if I’m fucking drunk or not? ‘Jackass’ put me through hell on fucking wheels for the past year and a half. “

The “Jackass” franchise started releasing stunt films in 2002 with “Jackass: The Movie”, which grossed more than $ 64 million on a $ 5 million budget. There were two sequences, and “Jackass 3D” from 2010 raised more than $ 170 million worldwide. The MTV show, created by Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze, transformed Knoxville, Margera and Steve-O into emerging stars.
Throughout the videos, Margera cried, stopped vomiting at one point, asked the audience to send him money on Venmo and said that his wife caught him looking for how to tie a bow, which led them to move to Oceanside, California . Jackass’ doesn’t care about me, ladies and gentlemen, ”he said to the camera. Margera later deleted the videos, but TMZ posted them.
A Paramount representative did not respond to a request for comment. A representative of director Tremaine of “Jackass 4” did not respond to a request for comment. Margera was not available for comment.
The day after Margera attacked the film and the studio, he changed course, saying that he realized he had “manic-bipolar” disorder and that he had obtained the answers to his questions about the film. “It will be fucking amazing, and it will be in a way that everyone wins in the end. So, I love everyone. ”Margera also said in Friday’s video that she would consult a“ bipolar specialist ”.
A source close to the film said that at the beginning of filming for “Jackass 4,” Margera – who was being monitored by a wellness coach – disappeared from production. Those involved in the film discovered that he had been admitted to a rehab facility in Florida (something Margera referred to in the first set of videos).
The source said that, because of COVID, the new “Jackass” is still being assembled now and may have more footage to do. The launch is scheduled for September 3 this year.
Margera, 41, is an important member of the “Jackass” cohort. He had his own stunt show on MTV called “Viva La Bam” from 2003 to 2005. On camera and off, he had a history of drinking and trying to rehabilitate his habit. Margera lives with his wife and son.
The source said that there is currently an effort to get Margera’s help again.
