Jack Dorsey sells genesis tweet for $ 2.9 million, NFTs save wild pandas and more

Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter sold a symbolic representation of his first tweet for more than $ 2.9 million on Monday.

The tweet was published on March 21, 2006 and says:

A two-week bidding war between Bridge CEO Oracle Sina Estavi and technology entrepreneur Justin Sun saw the price go from $ 500,000 to the final sale of more than $ 2.9 million, with Sina Estavi winning with a bid of 1,630 Ether (ETH).

On March 10, Dorsey said he would immediately convert the proceeds of the sale into Bitcoin (BTC) and donate everything to GiveDirectly, an organization that helps those living in poverty in Africa. After the sale was completed, the CEO tweeted the transaction.

The auction was held on the “Valuables” NFT market and ended on March 22. The NFT platform allows users to buy and sell tokenized posts on Twitter and is operated by blockchain-based social media company Cent.

The platform saw many big names enter the market to sell tweets, such as the NBA, businessman Gary Vaynerchuck, the NFL’s Green Bay Packers and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

John Cleese’s “sell a bridge” joke, NFT, is costing more than $ 33,000

Famous British comedian and actor John Cleese seems to have jokingly joined the NFT gold rush.

On March 20, Cleese posted a video on Twitter announcing that she would auction off her first tokenized collectible on the NFT OpenSea market.

Identifying himself as “a young unknown digital artist”, Cleese described the rise of NFTs as a “cultural moment” that offers “a bridge from the past to the future”.

Invoking the real-life story of the American swindler who fraudulently sold the Brooklyn Bridge to various investors (who were later transferred by the police after trying to erect tolls on the bridge), Cleese offers to sell his followers an a-kind NFT by immortalizing his digital black-and-white scribble depicting the Brooklyn Bridge for the modest price of $ 69.3 million.

Despite Cleese’s aggressive pricing goals, bidding for the token started on March 21 at just $ 100, with the bids pushing prices up more than $ 33,000 at the time of this writing. The auction is set to end after another 10 days of bidding.

Donations of PixelPandas’ revenues have already funded the adoption of a wild panda through the World Wildlife Fund.

Rico Nasty launches 1 of 1 NFT

Acclaimed rapper Rico Nasty released his first tokenized collectible on the NFT SuperRare market on March 22.

The one-of-a-kind NFT depicts a loop animation inspired by the video clip for his recent single, “OHFR?,” And was made in collaboration with former DreamWorks animator Don Allen III.

The auction is expected to close on March 25, with the current highest bid of 0.1 ETH worth around $ 170.

Nasty’s plunge into tokenized art follows other rappers like Ja Rule, who auctioned off an NFT depicting a painting of the disastrous “Fyre Festival” logo, for which he faced accusations after co-founding the event in 2017.
