The South Carolina football team had a favorable announcement on Thursday. Defensive discharge Jabari Ellis posted on his Twitter account that he is returning to play for Gamecocks for another season.
Ellis, who has played in all 10 games for the Gamecocks this season, totaled 27 tackles, with three of them going for a yard loss. He had half a quarterback and two more hurries for the quarterback. He started eight of the ten games South Carolina played this season.
Ellis joins the placekicker Parker White announcing that he will return in 2021. The NCAA did not count the 2020 season against the eligibility of a player, which means that all seniors can return for an additional season. At this point, Gamecocks are still waiting for several seniors to make an announcement. While some players are waiting for a coach to be hired in their positions, Gamecocks are keeping the defensive line coach Tracy Rocker.
This is the message that Ellis posted on her Twitter account:
As a South Carolina, there is pride in using Garnet and Black. These past three years have been some of the best years of my life.
So it is only right that I end my college career at home to fight to bring Carolina back to being a dominant force.
