Losing alice (Apple TV +, Friday, 12:01, series premiere): In this Israeli psychological thriller, Alice (Ayelet Zurer), 48, tries to boost her career as a director after spending years raising her family. She becomes obsessed with a young screenwriter femme fatale after a casual encounter and ends up renouncing her integrity for power, relevance and success.
Euphoria: Special Episode Part 2 (HBO Max, Friday, 9 pm): After Euphoria’s excellent one-hour inaugural special last year—Which focused on Rue de Zendaya – the series’ second special, “F * ck Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob,” arrives with its magnified lens on Hunter Schafer’s Jules. In the episode, Jules struggles with Rue’s decision not to join her on the train at the end of the season. The episode comes out early on HBO Max and airs on HBO on Sunday, January 24th.

The white tiger (Netflix, Friday, 3:01): “The white tiger makes all of these themed plots and checkpoints attractive, keeping your material at a distance – and at a distance, only flashes of personality are visible (usually through an occasional expressive close-up). ” Read the rest of Jesse Hassenger’s review of The white tiger, based on the 2008 black humor novel by Aravind Adiga set in India. The adaptation stars Adarsh Gourav, Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Painting with John (HBO, Friday, 11 pm, series premiere): Art lovers, unite! Directed and starring John Lurie, the co-founder of the musical group The Lounge Lizards, this new series is partly a meditative tutorial, partly a chat by the fireplace. It shows Lurie improving his watercolor techniques while sharing what he learned about life.
The sister (Hulu, Friday, 12:01): This four-part British psychological thriller follows Nathan (Russel Tovey), whose past comes back to haunt him in the form of an old acquaintance (Bertie Carvel) as buried secrets resurface. The suspenseful show, with supernatural touches, also stars Amrita Acharia, Nina Toussaint-White, Amanda Root and Paul Bazely.
Let’s talk about salt-n-pepa (Lifetime, Saturday, 8 pm): This biopic details the students’ journey from Queensborough Community College Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton as they enter the world of rap and hip-hop. Salt-N-Pepa had a big impact as one of the first all-female rap groups, in part because they were not afraid to talk about sex and share their ideas about men. The film follows the group as they become the first female rap band to go platinum and experience groundbreaking success.
Pixar Popcorn (Disney +, Friday, 3:01): Grab your popcorn – even if you’re at home and not at the movies yet – to get ready for this collection of 10 mini-shorts featuring Pixar’s favorite characters, like Toys Story, Cars, Finding Nemoand The Incredibles. These new, short stories are created by the animators at Pixar Animation Studios and arrive just in time for National Popcorn Day.
