It is estimated that 62 million abortions have occurred since the Roe v decision. Wade in 1973

Friday marks the 48th anniversary of the historic Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, which resulted in about 62 million abortions, according to one analysis.

The National Committee on the Right to Life (NRLTC), the oldest pro-life organization in the country, says it reached an estimate of 62,502,904 by tracking data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Guttmacher Institute, which previously operated as the research arm of the country’s most prominent abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

As the most recent Guttmacher data was from 2017, the NRLTC used that year’s number – 862,320 – to project numbers for 2018-2020. Although the CDC provided counts until 2018, their numbers are limited due to the exclusion of California, New Hampshire and Maryland.

Much of the debate around abortion has tended to discuss rights and when life begins. Among the various ideas presented by the left, former Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards argued that “there is no specific time when life begins” and that hers started when her children were born.

According to the United States National Library of Medicine, an unborn baby’s toes can be seen and his lungs, ears, eyes, arms and legs begin to form before the end of the first trimester. Between nine and 12 weeks after conception, the baby’s face becomes well formed, the genitals appear and nails appear on the fingers and toes.

CDC data recently showed declines in abortion rates. According to Guttmacher, between 1975 and 2012, the country saw more than one million abortions a year. Since 1973, reported numbers have varied from 744,610 in the first year and 1,608,600 in 1990.

Friday’s birthday generated a heated debate on one of the country’s most controversial issues.

Left-wing organizations like NARAL have told others to “reimagine Roe” in an apparent request for a Supreme Court decision to ensure taxpayer-funded abortions for all women.

THE CHIEF OF THE CONFERENCE OF THE BISHOPS OF THE UNITED STATES ALERT THAT BIDEN “ADVANCES MORAL EVIL AND THREATENS HUMAN LIFE”

“Legal abortion is not enough. It has never been enough. What we need is justice in abortion,” said NARAL in a tweet. He joined with another organization that called for “abortion justice” on racial and economic lines. This defense came when the Biden government committed to codifying Roe v. Wade, who conservatives say guarantees abortion until birth, and repeals a decades-old measure that blocked taxpayer funding for most abortions.

“We are deeply committed to ensuring that everyone has access to care – including reproductive health – regardless of income, race, postal code, health insurance or immigration status,” says a statement by President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Pro-life advocates responded critically. “Today, for the first time in four years, it looks like a statement that #RoevWade it is a gift for women and a promise to enshrine the slaughter of young children, at any stage of their development in the womb, as a ‘right’ ”, tweeted Live Action President Lila Rose.

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini responded to the White House statement in part by arguing that abortion was not a health treatment.

“Abortion is not health,” she tweeted. “It is moving, but not surprising, that on the day that we celebrate the loss of more than 60 million Americans due to abortion, the new government is already leaning aggressively towards abortion extremism.”
