Is Nintendo planning to resurrect the Pokémon Mini for the Pokémon’s 25th anniversary?

There are certainly many things going on this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, including games, merchandise and even music, but it’s fair to say that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company didn’t reveal everything that is taking place in the coming months – which means that people are looking for none tip related to other Pokémon related festivities.

Take the Nintendo Life Ash reader, for example. He sent an email to point out that, on Nintendo’s UK website, a new search category has been added that mentions the Pokémon Mini laptop. In the “Originally for” section, Pokémon Mini now has its own list, alongside games like Game Boy, GameCube and Super Nintendo.

What’s interesting is that there is also an “Other systems” category, which is where you I expect Nintendo will place the Pokémon Mini – unless, of course, there are plans underway to resuscitate the device in some way.

Look, we realized that we’re making a big guess here, but think about it – the Pokémon Mini is ready to be rediscovered, especially when you consider that many younger fans won’t be around to try it out for the first time.

Given that it is listed in the “Originally for” category, we would guess that some kind of digital relaunch would be the most likely. Nintendo may have plans to launch a Pokémon Mini app for Switch or smartphones, which can be downloaded for free, but allows you to purchase individual Pokémon Mini games for a small fee, such as Capcom Arcade Stadium?

In case you don’t know what Pokémon Mini is, it is a small device the size of a Tamagotchi that was launched in 2001 and allowed to insert tiny cartridges that contain mini-games. Costing around $ 40 (£ 30 in the UK) and with software that was around $ 20 / £ 15 a pop, it had the potential to be a huge success, but maybe it didn’t sell as well as Nintendo expected and quickly disappeared. view – something that could potentially be attributed to the fact that it was released in the same year as the Game Boy Advance.

Only ten games were produced for the Pokémon Mini, each with a Pokémon theme, so it would be an ideal digital collection for Switch.
