Is Meghan Markle already preparing an offer to be America’s first female president? The Duchess of Sussex “will use fury with Oprah’s interview to launch a political career while networking among Democrats,” says a labor figure with strong ties to Washington

- In the last U.S. election, Harry and Meghan launched a veiled attack on Trump
- If she made it to the White House, Meghan would be the first woman to be president of the United States.
Meghan Markle will use the furor over her interview with Oprah to launch a political career that could lead her to the White House, if the rumors that circulated in Westminster last week are true.
A senior labor figure – a veteran of Tony Blair’s Downing Street administration with strong ties to Washington – told The Mail on Sunday that Ms. Markle, 39, was networking among the senior Democrats with the aim of building a campaign and fundraising teams for a fight against the US Presidency.
Last night, a source close to the Duchess of Sussex declined to comment, but the couple did not hide their political beliefs.

A senior Labor Party figure claimed that 39-year-old Meghan Markle (pictured last year) was networking with senior Democrats to build a campaign and fundraising teams for a dispute over the United States presidency.
During the U.S. elections last year, they launched a veiled attack on Donald Trump, urging voters to ‘reject hate speech’, which a spokesman for the couple described as ‘a request for decency’. Trump himself declared that he was ‘not a fan’ of Meghan, 39.
A source said: “The networks of the Blairite, internationalist and Democratic parties are teeming with conversations about the political ambitions of Meghan and her potential supporters.”
Last year, a friend of the Duchess told Vanity Fair magazine that one of the reasons she did not give up her US citizenship when she married members of the Royal Family was to allow her to keep the option of entering Washington policy open.
United States constitutional experts responded that she would have to resign her title if she wanted to hold a public office in the United States, because that would violate the United States oath of allegiance.
Buckingham Palace tried to distance the royal family from comments made during the election in the United States, by issuing a statement saying “the duke is not a working member of the royal family” and describing his comments as “made in a personal capacity”.
The source added that the presumption was that the Duchess was looking at 2024, when President Joe Biden will be 82 years old and decide whether to run for a second term.

If she made it to the White House, Meghan would be the first woman to be president of the United States – succeeding where Hillary Clinton narrowly failed four years ago
If she made it to the White House, Meghan would be the first woman to be President of the United States – succeeding where Hillary Clinton just barely failed four years ago – and the second non-white occupant of the Oval Office, after Barack Obama.
She would also be following in the footsteps of President Ronald Reagan, who was a Hollywood actor for four decades before switching to politics. During the 2020 campaign, the Duchess spoke at the When All Women Vote Couch party, the organization co-founded by Michelle Obama to encourage participation in the elections.
Meghan’s friends have already encouraged speculation about her political ambitions – describing her rise from a modest start as ‘the embodiment of the American dream’.
