Iranian refugee hits John Kerry’s “anti-American” meetings with Iran during the Trump administration

Iranian refugee and former Trump official Ellie Cohanim beat John Kerry on Wednesday, calling the former secretary of state’s secret meetings with Iran during Trump’s presidency “anti-American” and an attempt to undermine government foreign policy positions.

During an appearance on the Fox and Friends program, the former State Department special envoy called the Biden government’s negotiations with Iran to resume the nuclear deal “diplomatic negligence” and asked them to stop making unilateral concessions and increase demands on the Iranian regime.

“What exactly was John Kerry saying to them – just ignore America until we’re back in power?” Cohanim said. “It’s kind of unbelievable.”

Cohanim said the campaign of maximum pressure under the Trump administration to hold Iranians accountable was one of the strongest over the regime in American history and led the country to its weakest point in 43 years.

The former Trump official pointed to Iran’s economic crisis, improper handling of the coronavirus and civil unrest as evidence that the country is on the brink of collapse.

Biden government officials, including John Kerry and Robert Malley, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif during the Trump administration who were orchestrated to undermine President Biden’s predecessor, said a recent report by The Washington Times.

Zarif met with veterans of the Obama administration who could return to power “to outline a political strategy to undermine the Trump administration” and usher in a more lenient diplomacy between the U.S. and Iran.

Kerry, who is now President Biden’s chief climate envoy, was open about the fact that he met with Zarif at least twice during the Trump administration, prompting Trump to say he should be prosecuted under the Logan Law.

Meanwhile, Republicans are criticizing Biden’s decision to give up Trump-era pressure to re-impose UN sanctions on Iran as the government appears to have a lighter approach to the regime.
