Iowa St-Kansas men’s basketball game postponed

The Kansas home game scheduled for No. 6 in Kansas on Saturday against the state of Iowa was postponed because of positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracking within the Cyclones program.

Schools announced on Friday that they plan to work with the big 12 to reschedule the game.

The Jayhawks (10-3, 4-2) come from a 75-70 loss to Oklahoma State and now visit second-placed Baylor on Monday night. The Cyclones (2-7, 0-5) also had their previous game against Kansas State postponed and are scheduled to play in 4th Texas on Wednesday night.

The home game scheduled for Minnesota on Friday night against the Memphis Grizzlies was delayed because of contact tracking within the Timberwolves.

The NBA said the Timberwolves did not have the eight players needed to continue the game.

Six Washington Wizards players tested positive for COVID-19 and three others are in NBA health protocols.

General manager Tommy Sheppard said in a video conference with reporters that two of the players with the coronavirus disease had symptoms, while the other four were asymptomatic so far.

Sheppard said that no team member tested positive.

He spoke after the team announced that its next two scheduled games were being postponed: at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday and Monday.

This means that four consecutive games for Washington have been canceled.

The Dallas Stars will open its season on January 22 in Nashville, after an outbreak across the team forced its first four games to be postponed.

The National Hockey League rescheduled the Stars’ opening games and changed several others to accommodate. The regular season started on Wednesday, and the Stars were scheduled to play on Thursday.

But 17 players tested positive for the virus, prompting the NHL to close the team’s facilities and Dallas to stop training.

The one-day cricket international between the United Arab Emirates and Ireland in Abu Dhabi on Saturday has been postponed again.

Four players from the UAE tested positive for the virus and no member of the Irish team. UAE health officials canceled the match on Friday.

The second ODI, to take place last Sunday, has been postponed to Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The United Arab Emirates won the first ODI last Friday.

Both teams hope to play a second ODI on Monday to end the series, as Ireland begin a series against Afghanistan on the same ground next Thursday.

South Carolina men’s basketball coach Frank Martin is frustrated after testing positive for COVID-19 for the second time since May.

Martin will lose his team’s game at LSU on Saturday.

Martin first caught the virus in the spring and recovered only with mild symptoms. He said that this latest fight hit him harder, although he was not hospitalized.

Gamecocks have only played twice since December 5th. Martin hopes to break out of isolation and return with the team on Monday.

Baylor’s sixth-ranked women’s basketball team is set to play its home game Saturday night against Iowa State, after a long period of restricted team activity after Coach Kim Mulkey’s test for COVID-19.

Baylor (8-1) has not played since January 2 at TCU, a game that Mulkey lost after being exposed to the virus by a family member who tested positive. Mulkey had tested negative three times at that time, but the team’s activities were paused on January 4 when she tested positive.

School officials said Mulkey’s availability to coach Saturday’s game would be determined that day. Without being specific, the school said on Friday that it met the big 12 requirement for the number of players needed to play a game. Big 12 requires six fellows.

Associate coach Bill Brock described the team as eager to get back on the court and play.

The French league postponed the match between Lorient and Dijon on Sunday because of an increasing number of coronavirus cases in the Lorient team.

The league said on Friday that it expects more than 10 players on the Lorient team to be positive for COVID-19.

No new dates have been scheduled for the game.

Both sides are fighting at the foot of the table.

The Southeast Conference on Friday rescheduled three women’s basketball games for January 21. All were postponed because of COVID-19.

Florida’s visit to Vanderbilt was initially scheduled for December 31. Georgia’s South Carolina game was scheduled for January 7. Kentucky’s trip to Auburn was delayed seven days.

All three games will be televised on the SEC Network.
