Iowa Governor extending public health proclamation COVID-19

DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) – Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a new public health disaster proclamation that extends regulatory relief for another 30 days to those on the front lines of the COVID-19 recovery.

In early February, the governor relaxed most of the restrictions in the state she established to combat the pandemic COVID-19.

The proclamation removed the mask requirement for those who spent 15 minutes or more indoors less than 2 meters from people who were not in their home. It also ended mask requirements for those in public buildings and some businesses, such as barbershops.

The governor’s order also lifted the limits on the number of customers in a company or the requirement that they remain socially distant.

Originally, this proclamation would have expired on March 7, but Reynolds extended it until April 4. If the proclamation had expired, the regulatory relief that is in place to help the state fight the pandemic would have been stopped.

The proclamation encourages Iowa citizens, businesses and organizations to take reasonable public health measures, in accordance with guidance from the Iowa Public Department.
