Iowa did more than 1.5 million COVID-19 tests, hospitalizations dropped to less than 300

EDITOR’S NOTE: The daily numbers we report do not match the numbers the state is reporting for each day. Every day at 10am, we take the previous day’s numbers from 10am and subtract them with the current state numbers at 10am. Instead of reporting a day ago, we want to provide the most up-to-date information. For Black Hawk and Linn counties, we are reporting the COVID-19 site numbers for their counties. For Johnson and Dubuque counties, we are providing numbers for the state website.

IOWA

(KWWL) – There were 1,035 new cases confirmed from 10am Tuesday to 10am Wednesday, according to the state panel, which brings the total number of cases in the state to 326,414.

The state website reports that of the 326,414 people who tested positive, 297,818 recovered. That’s 1,378 more recoveries than the state reported on Monday.

The death toll in the state is 5,174, 29 more reported than yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (297,818) and the number of deaths (5,174) from the total number of cases (326,414), we currently have 23,422 positive cases active in the state.

As of Wednesday morning, there were 48 patients hospitalized in Iowa in the past 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 292, down from 327 hospitalized the day before. Of these, 67 are in the ICU (same as yesterday) and 27 are on ventilators (against 29).

In Iowa, there were 2,637 new tests performed in the last 24 hours and a total of 1,500,780 people were tested for COVID-19. The positivity rate in the last 24 hours (1,035 positive tests divided by 2,637 tests provided) is 39.2 percent.

According to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine panel, 348,659 total doses were administered to Iowa residents and 95,642 individuals completed the series. On Wednesday, 12,385 residents of Black Hawk County, 26,368 of Linn County, 27,759 of Johnson County and 12,030 Dubuque County received the vaccine. See the dashboard for more data. BLACK HAWK COUNTY

From 10am on Wednesday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 panel is presenting 34 new cases since 10am on Tuesday, leaving a total of 15,554 cases (14,602 positive cases for PCR and antigen and 952 positive cases for serology). There were 52 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 13,397. There were three additional deaths, leaving a total of 270 deaths. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 6.9 percent.

LINN COUNTY

From 10am on Wednesday, the COVID-19 panel from Linn County is presenting 40 new cases since 10am on Tuesday, leaving a total of 18,970 cases. There were 56 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 16,705 recoveries. There were no additional deaths, leaving a total of 312 deaths in the county. Currently, there are 20 patients admitted to the municipality. The county’s average 14-day positivity rate is 9 percent.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According status panel At 10 am on Wednesday, there are 41 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 am on Tuesday. This brings the total to 12,738 reported cases. There were a total of 11,772 recoveries, 68 more reported than yesterday. There was an additional death, leaving a total of 66 deaths. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 7%.

DUBBLE COUNTY

According status panel at 10 am on Wednesday, there were 40 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 am on Tuesday. This brings the total to 12,038 reported cases. There were 41 additional recoveries reported, resulting in a total of 11,061. There were no additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 186. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 7 percent.
