iOS 15: release date and expected new features

IOS 15 is expected to be revealed at Apple’s WWDC development-focused annual summit, which would certainly have an online lecture reserved for us. As is tradition, we are sure that almost all new iOS features will be demonstrated on stage, but the most intriguing ones are likely to be revealed as soon as the first iOS 15 beta developer arrives. This usually does not take long and is available for download right after the end of the lecture; we don’t think it will be any different with iOS 15.

Now, what to expect from the new version of Apple’s operating system? Given that IOS 14 was a very important update for iOS that revised a number of things, mainly the interface, adding widgets to the home screen, we don’t really believe that iOS 15 will add so much to this visual review. Either way, it will be a simple update that will polish anything that iOS 14 has released and improve existing new features and functionality. This does not mean that you should contain your enthusiasm, there is a lot of spicy talk about iOS 15!

iOS 15: more customization of standard applications

It is said that iOS 15 will open the operating system for even more customization, allowing users to further change the default apps. IOS 14 started this trend, allowing Safari and Mail to be changed and an alternative used instead. The most recently IOS 14.5 beta is likely to allow you to change your default music platform as well, replacing Spotify with Apple Music, for example. This iOS opening is likely to persist on iOS 15 as well.

Here’s what iPhones are likely to have iOS 15:

iOS 15: Compatible devices

IOS updates tend to drop support for older iPhones. This was not the case with iOS 14, which was compatible with the same devices on which iOS 13 was available, but this will not be reiterated by iOS 15. Support for the latest iPhones with a headset will be canceled, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, as well as the original iPhone SE, as only devices with an A10 or later chipset will continue to be compatible.

iOS 15: Privacy

The latest iOS 14.5 beta further increased iOS privacy, automatically redirecting secure browsing data through Apple’s own servers and acting as a kind of VPN, protecting you from the prying eyes of the advertising monstrosities looking for your data. Supposedly, we can expect similar privacy features to be part of iOS 15 as well.

iOS 15: release date

This year’s WWDC developer summit is likely to be an online-only event that will take place sometime in June, which appears to be Apple’s favorite month for software ads. In addition to launching a beta version, this early iOS reveal also gives a lot of space for app developers to prepare their apps for the next changes and become familiar with all the new features.

Regarding the launch of the official version of iOS 15, it will undoubtedly occur along with the launch of the iPhone 13 series (iPhone 12S). Traditionally, iPhones are released in late September / early October, so expect the next version of iOS in that direction.
