iOS 14.4 is released with Bluetooth audio monitoring

Apple has started to launch iOS 14.4 for iPhone and iPad users. While not as substantial an update as iOS 14.3, it does come with a handful of minor enhancements. To get started, you’ll find a new option in the Settings menu that allows you to designate the type of third-party audio device that you connected to iPhone via Bluetooth. This will help your iPhone to properly measure the audio levels of the headset, so that it can send alerts if you are hearing something at a level that may damage your hearing over time.

Apple has also adjusted the camera application so that it can better recognize QR codes that fall on the smaller side, and there is a new warning if the camera components on your iPhone 12 have been replaced with non-Apple parts.

The update comes with a number of bug fixes as well, one of which addresses HDR photos with artifacts captured by the iPhone 12 Pro and another that addresses keyboard delay. The latter has plagued some iPhone users since the initial launch of iOS 14.

Apple also today released watchOS 7.3, which comes with the company’s new Time to Walk feature on Fitness + and the Unity watch face. If you don’t see a notification asking you to download the updates, you can check them manually by opening the Settings menu, navigating to the “General” section and tapping “Software update” near the top of the page.
