Intercontinental title fight tied, Big E wins immediate rematch

You didn’t think WWE would take the Intercontinental Championship from Big E right after you put it in it, did you?

Even if they were, Apollo Crews seemed unlikely to be that guy. After a race in a United States championship program with The Hurt Business in Monday Night Raw, Crews was summoned to Friday Night SmackDown and immediately left. That changed last week when he teamed up with E to defeat Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin. So he accepted an open challenge for an Intercontinental title fight.

That went down in Smash this week, and featured some controversy:

After the break, they explained that the two contestants had their shoulders slumped and, therefore, a tie was decided and the title would go to Big E. Crews reacted by slapping E in the face and demanding the championship he believed he had just won. Big E asked for the bell, and they rang it right there.

The second game was much better than the first, although it had everything to do with the first giving life to the second. In the end, Big E hit Big Ending and scored the pinfall to retain the title.
