Intelligence community investigating links between legislators, Capitol protesters

The intelligence community is investigating any links between lawmakers and protesters who invaded the Capitol on January 6, a US official told CNN.

The investigation so far has found that some alleged protesters had associations with lawmakers or had direct contact with them before January 6, but there is no evidence that lawmakers were involved in the riot or personally helped any of the protesters, the official said.

Authorities have been investigating the pro-Trump protesters who invaded the Capitol on January 6 for months and managed to arrest hundreds of people involved in the rebellion that resulted in the deaths of five people.

Authorities are still arresting those who invaded the Capitol, but will start to focus on those who planned the attack, who financed them and what connection, if any, lawmakers had.

Authorities are now analyzing the tour video to see if there was any connection between the tours and the protesters. If connections are found between protesters and lawmakers, authorities can obtain a warrant to view communications, CNN reported.
