Intel forgot to release graphics drivers for its 11th generation Rocket Lake CPUs

What just happened? Somehow, inexplicably, Intel failed to publish drivers for Rocket Lake integrated graphics before the processors launched last week. They haven’t made an excuse yet, probably because there are none: by all accounts, Rocket Lake’s integrated graphics are a clone of old hardware and don’t need updated drivers – just certification.

Intel graphics drivers are usually available on its download site, but if you search the 11900K or its siblings, all you get is the Performance Maximizer utility. If you download the Intel Graphics driver installer, it says that it cannot find a match for your hardware. This is a little annoying when you are paying more than $ 600 for a new processor.

Reviewers, including us, received pre-release drivers before the embargo and those who tested the integrated graphics found no anomalies. OEMs also had access to the drivers. As far as we know, graphics integrated within Rocket Lake processors, branded UHD 750, are functionally identical to graphics integrated within last year’s Tiger Lake mobile processors. Common sense says that drivers do not need a significant rewrite.

Lisa Pearce, Intel’s director of graphics software engineering, says the drivers will be available to the public on Monday.

But luckily, if you brought a Rocket Lake processor and don’t have a video card to pair with, you don’t have to wait until Monday to play CS: GO at 30 fps. Here is a workaround:

Download the .zip file for the Intel Graphics general driver and install it manually using the Windows driver installation tool: Control Panel> Device Manager> Display Adapters> UHD 750> (right click) Properties > Driver> Update driver> Search my computer for driver software.
