It’s New Year’s Eve, so chances are the Instagram feed is full of people sharing their top 9 annual reviews. If you want to create and share your own Instagram Top 9 before the end of the year, here’s how.
First of all, it is quite ridiculous that after years with the Top 9 trend being so incredibly popular, Instagram has not yet implemented a native way to create and share the year under review directly in the app. Instead, users are forced to rely on third-party applications to create their collages, some of which are less concerned with privacy than others.
However, the Top 9 trend is back in full force in 2020. As you flipped through the Instagram feed this week, you probably saw the top 9 posts from friends and celebrities. The idea is that these recaps share your 9 main Instagram posts in terms of likes during the year.
How to create your Instagram Top 9
Since Instagram hasn’t launched a native way to create its top 9, there are a handful of third-party apps to fill the void. The most popular way to create and share your Instagram Top 9 this year is with the Top Nine app for Instagram from the App Store.
The application will ask for your Instagram username. Enter it and select “continue”. Then, the application will ask for your email address. If you have a dedicated “junk” email address, I suggest using it here (or you can enter something completely random).
After entering your email address, the app will generate your grid of the 9 best Instagram posts based on the most liked posts of the year. You’ll see a “Nine Major” watermark in your grid, but you can remove it with an $ 1.99 in-app purchase if you wish.
Another solution is the Best Nine app, which is also available for free on the App Store. It does not ask for your email address and there is no watermark on the final image. The downside, however, is that it is an app experience that is heavily adorned with ads.
To share your Top 9 grid on Instagram, tap the “Share” button in any of the apps and save the photo to your photo library or share it directly on your Instagram. If you save it to your photo library, you can upload it to Instagram as you would any other image.
Final advice: Be wary of any apps that require you to sign in to your Instagram account. These 9 main images can be generated without this access, as you can see with the services we mentioned above.
