Operation: Tango
The asymmetric cooperative puzzle game Operation: Tango will be released this spring. The espionage adventure shows an agent player infiltrating locations, while a hacker player helps him do so. The game will also be released on PS5, as well as the previously announced PS4, Xbox One and Steam versions.
We showed the game at Gamescom 2020, and the PlayStation blog delves into its various art styles, in addition to telling us that the game ranges from office break-ins to high-speed pursuits.
Chicory: a colorful tale
This adventure game about a dog using a magic brush to explore and solve puzzles was funded on Kickstarter earlier this year. It has already been announced for the launch of PS5 and PS4 this spring.
The game sees a colorless world, with the player being asked to manually paint it back to life, offering customization as well as puzzles. On PS5, the game will use the DualSense touchpad to control the brush (with an option for lefties), and the developer “added lots of soft texture sounds that make the whole thing warm and cozy, like petting a cat.”
Nour: Play with your food
Nour: Play With Your Friend seems like quite a journey in the most flavorful way. Published by the same company as Untitled Goose Game and coming to PS5 this summer, Nour is a game where you play with your food, and the music and sound of the game will react accordingly.
Using “adaptive background music”, the melodies and sound effect of Nour will change depending on what you do with the (extremely beautiful-looking) food in front of you. Different foods correspond to different sounds; you can move them around, mess them up and even blow into the microphone for different effects. In a PlayStation blog post, Terrifying Jellyfish developer Maximillian C Mueller describes “noodle harps”, marshmallow flute sounds, ice cube-shaped grand pianos, turning toasters into batteries and a meat grinder turned into heavy metal.
The video above explains this better, showing how food relates to sound, but Mueller also sums it up better on the blog with an example:
“Perhaps the best example of physical instrumentation in Nour is the noodle harp. Make some noodles, arrange them to form an elegant slope (or monster) using the magnet and freeze them. Although there are many ways you can choose to play the harp. , one of my favorites is simply to let a gyoza roll through the sculpture to create a descending melody. “
Where the heart takes
A man’s dog slips down a drain, so he goes after him and ends up on an unexpected journey. In Where the Heart Leads, husband and father Whit Anderson is visited by memories of his past, present and future. What’s more, he can change them as he goes, transforming his life and the lives of others in a totally different direction.
Where the Heart Leads is a narrative game focused on making decisions throughout a man’s life. Armature Studio developer Tod Keller says the game is inspired by titles like Heavy Rain, Oxenfree, Xenogears and Vagrant Story, and includes the influences of David Lynch, Wes Anderson and Nicolas Winding Refn.
It will be released on PS4 and PS5 on July 13.
