The Indianapolis Colts apparently found their immediate future quarterback after swapping two choices in the draft for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.
With Wentz now under the Colts’ center, general manager Chris Ballard must do everything he can to build around the 28-year-old quarterback through free agency and the 2021 draft of the NFL.
According to Over The Cap, the Colts will have about $ 43 million in salary cap with Wentz on the list. After offering some extensions, Colts will need to add some help to the previous general choice # 2. It can be difficult to spend a lot after these extensions, but the Colts will find a way.
Building around Wentz is now a priority for the Colts. Since there are no deadline penalties after the 2022 season, this looks like a test for the next two campaigns. Get as much help as possible for Wentz when it comes to personnel and see if this move was right.
This means that the Colts may be looking to invest heavily in an offensive tackle during the 2021 NFL draft. Even if they move away from general choice No. 21, an offensive tackle like Liam Eichenberg, Samuel Cosmi or Dillon Radunz could be the choice.
They also need to add explosive players to the attack. They can do this through free agency and draft, if they want. Adding a tight end like Jonnu Smith, Geralrd Everrett or Hunter Henry would help in the passing game, while the draft class has a number of explosive possibilities.
A deep threat at a free agency like Marvin Jones, Tyrell Williams or Nelson Agholor would be an interesting fit for the Colts.
With a strong offensive line and racing game already consolidated behind Wentz, the Colts must continue to put him in the best possible situation. If they don’t, what’s the point of making that exchange?
