The Indianapolis Colts are somewhat desperate for a quarterback in this off-season, so it makes sense that they have called teams with potentially available quarterbacks.
Among those teams is the Philadelphia Eagles, which could try to dispatch polarizer Carson Wentz. While it is not clear how deep these conversations have reached, Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network said on SportsRadio 94WIP that the two sides talked about it.
“I know the Eagles have already spoken to the Indianapolis Colts,” said Garafolo on the radio show Friday. “Here’s the thing about the Colts, which is why they were never really in the running for Matthew Stafford: these guys are really good at what they do in terms of recruiting. They believe in themselves. … So, what they do is, they are a little slow when it comes to these draft choices and negotiations. “

Wentz is a little bit enigmatic. He already ran for the MVP award when working with Frank Reich, but has suffered a sharp decline in gambling and health since then.
It would be expensive for the Colts to acquire and would certainly result in Indy receiving draft compensation in the business as well, but it is unclear how deep these trade negotiations are.
Regardless, this will be something to keep an eye on during the off-season if a deal goes through.
