Bethesda tweeted to say “A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development at our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It will take some time before we have more to reveal, but we are very excited to share today’s news! “
An original Bethesda post on Twitter includes a video featuring the word MachineGames, a Lucasfilm Games logo and the iconic hat and whip. A post on StarWars.com explains that the teaser “may contain some clues”, but explains that the game will be defined “at the height of the famous adventurer’s career”.In addition to the company logos, the game will apparently revolve in part around Vatican City, with a plane ticket to Rome dated October 1937 and, like IGN, Jordan Oloman points, a map including the Sistine Chapel spread on the table.
No release date or platform was provided at the time of writing, but one thing is certain – MachineGames will have plenty of ideas on how Indie can dispatch Nazis.
Lucasfilm Games was announced as a comeback brand yesterday, which will apparently cover games made by several developers “in the Star Wars galaxy and beyond” – this is clearly the “beyond” part. “Lucasfilm Games is now the official identity for all Lucasfilm game titles,” says a statement, “a name that encompasses the company’s rich video game catalog and its look to the future.”
With Bethesda soon to be owned by Microsoft, it is unclear whether this will be an exclusive Xbox (timed or complete), but it seems very likely that the game would be released on Game Pass, with Microsoft looking for Bethesda games to be “first, best or better “on Xbox platforms.
