COVID-19 infections and mortality rates have been steadily decreasing in the country. Several Bollywood pillars that waited for the pandemic to end, such as Salman Khan’s action crime pillar ‘Radhe’, are expected to hit theaters in the coming weeks and months.

India began allowing 100 percent occupancy in cinemas on Monday, lifting a 50 percent limit on seating capacity that has been in place since October 2020.

“The seating arrangement inside the cinema / theater / multiplex auditorium should have up to 100 percent of the seating capacity,” said the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday.

Several COVID-19 prevention measures remain mandatory for both the film crew and customers, including staggered reservations and schedules, mandatory social distance and the use of facial masks and hand sanitizers. The government also imposed detailed guidelines for air ventilation inside cinemas, stipulating target temperature and humidity ranges and discouraging recirculation. Several regions of the country designated as COVID-19 containment zones will continue to insist that cinemas remain closed.

The relaxation of cinema restrictions follows a vast improvement in COVID-19 infection rates within India’s borders. On Monday, the number of weekly Covid-19 deaths in India has dropped 88 percent since the peak in September 2020, and weekly fatalities have dropped to less than 1,000 for the first time since the first week of May last year.

In the midst of improving public health and market conditions, several large-budget Indian films that waited for the pandemic to be released in theaters are preparing to hit theaters. Tamil support board Karnan, starring Dhanush (aka Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja), responded quickly to the good news about the occupation of cinema by announcing that it would be released in theaters in April. The pillar of Bollywood superstar action crime Salman Khan Radhe it should also hit theaters in the coming months.
