Improved cash score: Cubs 5, Brewers 3

The Cubs won the third consecutive time, and we’ll call it a winning streak, folks.

With the family present, including his Cubs fan father, Trevor Williams made his debut with the Cubs at Wrigley Field. And it was really magical when it came to those things, with Williams going five perfect innings to kick-start, and then going through six goalless with a little double play action when the bases were loaded and things were getting a little bit scary on the 6th.

Williams was allowed to return on the 7th, which was good for the pitch count (about 80 at the time), but one launched a non-competitive four-pitch walk for Christian Yelich to lead the inning, and then Avi Garcia tore a single to the left, which ended his night. Unfortunately Jason Adam came in and gave Omar Narvaez a three-run home run (after an alleged double game ball that David Bote was unable to control), who not only shook Williams with a few runs, but also cut the Cubs. four races for just one. It’s not what you want to see from Adam when he’s in the bullpen to be a guy who can get in and get eliminations in those tight spots.

Other than that, however, the launch was great tonight. I can’t say much.

The power of the Cubs appeared in this one, with home run by Willson Contreras, Javy Báez and David Bote, who gave them their first four races. The Cubs performed a miracle and set a race for Devin Williams (he allowed a deserved race EVERY year ago) to give themselves a 5-3 lead in eighth place, which was all they needed thanks to the closest Alec to part-time Mills … and this guy:
