IMDB poll reveals most anticipated video games of 2021

The media database website IMDB launches a poll of the most anticipated video games of 2021, with some results that may surprise fans.

Just a month in 2021, the video game industry saw impressive launches, such as Hitman 3 and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition. However, there are many other launches on the horizon, with many being highly anticipated. The online media database IMDB released the results of a poll of fans of the most anticipated video games of 2021 and some of the results may be surprising to fans.

Last year’s IMDB survey for the most anticipated video games for 2020 included Cyberpunk 2077 at the top of the list, with multiple game award winners The Last of Us Part 2 coming in second, Ghosts of Tsushima coming in third, and Marvel Avengers coming in fourth place. While anticipation by Cyberpunk 2077 and Marvel Avengers were high, the releases of both games were disappointing for many fans. Hopefully, the most anticipated games of 2021 based on the IMDB poll will be overkill.

This year’s poll featured 1,507 fan votes, with a title winning a large percentage of the vote. PlayStation exclusive God of War: Ragnarok it was elected the most anticipated video game of 2021 with 360 votes. Although not much is known about the sequel to the hit game of 2018 God of War, the events within the title and a small teaser trailer generated a lot of emotion for Ragnarok. Although developer Santa Monica Studio has promised a release date of 2021, the lack of trailers or advertisements may point to God of War: Ragnarok launching later than expected.

Kratos and Atrius

Second place is another PlayStation exclusive, Horizon: Forbidden West, with 199 votes. As a sequence of Horizon: Zero Dawn, Forbidden West was announced in June 2020 with an extensive cinematic trailer, scheduled for release in the third or fourth quarter of 2021. Third is the much anticipated portion of the Distant scream Series, Far Cry 6, with 115 votes.

Following the first three places is Hogwarts legacy at number four, Resident Evil Village at number five, and Diablo 4 at number six. While Hogwarts legacy was postponed to 2022 on January 13, Resident Evil Village and Diablo 4 are yet to be released later this year. Surprisingly, the highly anticipated titles Gotham Knights, Halo Infiniteand The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, placed in seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.

Some of the even more surprising entries include Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart on the 18th, which received a positive reception from fans for the game’s ad trailer and demo trailer. Other surprisingly low-rated entries are The medium, who received only five votes, and Returnal, which received only three votes.
